Grab a sweatshirt. Pack your blanket and pillows. Hit the grocery store and load up on Raisnets and Sour Patch Kids. The outdoor movies are coming back!
It is getting to be that time of year. Just as the parking meters return with the warmer weather so do the outdoor films. If you are a parent with multiple kids. THIS IS FOR YOU!!!
One of the best things about living on Delmarva is the multitude of opportunities to see a movie outdoors. They also are generally free, which is a huge plus, if you have kids.
Last year, we went to see the movies at Milton’s Memorial Park as often as we could. I think we saw the Minon Movie and Hotel Transylvania. The kiddos loved it. There is just something about being outdoors with a group of people on a summer night watching a movie. It is fun.
Then again, I always liked drive-in movie theaters. This is kind of like that, except there is no speaker attachment and generally you bring your own snacks.
I have not heard about Milton’s lineup for the summer yet. Dewey Beach is on it, though. The movies on Dewey Beach kick off on Monday, June 12th, with the Lego Movie. The movies are held every Monday night on the beach at Dagsworthy Street in Dewey. The movies start at about 8:30 p.m. Parking in Dewey Beach is free on Monday nights from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m. Dewey also offers beach bonfires on Tuesday and Wednesday nights at Dagsworthy Avenue. The first one starts on June 13th at 6 p.m. with a Kids’ beach party.
Here is the Dewey Beach Movie lineup:

Lewes Canalfront Park also has outdoor movies, but they are geared more toward an older crowd. Think tween and their parents who would love to relive the ’80s. The movies start at sundown, or about 8:15 p.m. The park is located at 211 Front Street, Lewes. Here is the lineup:

Bethany Beach also offers movies on the beach. The movies at Bethany are on Monday nights throughout the summer. Bethany has an extended movie run in September, where the town shows movies at the bandstand on Friday nights.
